Welcome to Your Lighthouse in the Storm
It can be uncomfortable at times to meet with a counselor. I know, because I am a private person, and I have needed the guidance of a counselor a few times in my life. It was hard to search for the right one, to make the appointment, to sit in the office, and to talk about myself and my struggle. Sometimes the counselor was a good fit, sometime not. But when I found the right person, the relief and help that I experienced was worth it all. I wouldn’t trade what I learned for anything in the world. I would like to be that person for you in your time of need.
Is your marriage painful or empty? Are you faced with significant changes in your life? Are you or your family struggling with a crisis that leaves your head spinning? I would like to walk with you through this difficult time and offer the reassurance and guidance you need to put the pieces back together and rediscover Peace and Joy in life again.
I've had some difficulties in my childhood and adult life that have taught me a lot. And I have some unique experiences that have added breadth and depth to me as a person and a counselor. I have worked with gifted and special needs children and adults, and their families; and with the elderly (including Alzheimer’s) and their families. I have also worked with those with chronic mental illness, and those with various addictions (substance and behavioral) with great success. My hope is that I can share what I’ve learned with you, and provide genuine understanding, and professional guidance and counsel.
DIFFICULTIES: Sometimes our circumstances can seem like a dark storm around us. We feel lost, and search around for solid ground but sometimes find none. I’d like to be that reliable guide to help you find the path to safer shores, experience the clouds lifting, and the sun shining again. Troubles come, but then they often go again. Life can be beautiful once more.
CHANGES: Life can also bring some changes our way that are sometimes difficult to accept or adjust to. We may struggle to adapt, and grieve for what we may have lost. A relationship may be ending, or a new one beginning; children leave the house (or come back!), a job or career may be over, or a new one starting; we lose a loved one, or gain a new member of the family; or we just find ourselves in a new stage of life that is difficult to adapt to. I understand these changes that life brings our way. I’m confident that, with support, you can make a successful adjustment, and even come to appreciate the new turn in the road of your life.
ANSWERS: As an experienced therapist, my hope is to help you recover peace and joy, and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change some difficult situations, or change the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life, and find new direction. By applying therapy approaches and techniques that fit your unique needs, we will identify behavior patterns or perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
SUPPORT: If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, marriage, family, or career, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. Your hopes and dreams for your life are the foundation of our work together. Please call or email me for an individual, couples, or family therapy consultation today. Christian based counseling is available upon request. Hope to hear from you soon!
